Cents

The first Canadian cents were minted in 1858 in London, England and shipped to Canadian provinces. Similar to United States coinage the first Canadian cents were large in diameter. The cent was reduced to its current size in 1920. In March 2012, the Canadian government and Royal Canadian Mint announced that production of the cent would cease in the fall of 2012.
