In 2007, the United States Mint began another circulating commemorative coin program--not unlike the successful Statehood and National Parks Quarter program. Featuring the likenesses of past presidents, in the order they served, four new Presidential Dollar coins will be issued each year. These coins are struck on the same planchets as the Sacagawea Dollar, but unlike the Sacagawea Dollar, the Presidential Dollar features the dates and mintmarks on the edge, rather than the obverse or reverse. The program is currently scheduled to run through 2016.
